Virda and Usman returned to East Pier Hotel in Napier for Part II of their Hawke’s Bay wedding in January. We all enjoyed such a wonderfully colourful day. Virda’s dress was hand made by her auntie in Pakistan and her sister and Mother helped her to get ready and looking fabulous wearing her traditional mehndi, tikka, jewellery and make-up. Such a joy to photograph.
Usman and Virda had a ‘first look’ on the the balcony of the Bridal Suite at East Pier and I assure you Usman was very, very happy when Virda turned to greet him. After prayers and blessings, Virda’s sister Kanza organised a Doodh Pilai in which she and her brothers tried to extract moneyfor her from Usman in exchange for a glass of milk. They didn’t manage it…I suspect a present had been organised in advance 🙂 .
We popped out to the Botanical Gardens for a bit of time-out for the newlyweds and returned for a meal and celebrations. We were interrupted by a wedding crasher who turned out to be a pretty good dancer…
I thoroughly enjoyed photographing a Pakistani wedding with such a loving couple. Here’s a few of my images telling the story of their day.
