Asha and Dave returned from Perth to Dave’s home in Napier for their wedding blessing have been formally married in an Indian ceremony with Asha’s family in Sydney the week before. So two weeks of wedding/vows and family celebrations for them both!
Their marriage was blessed in Knox Church, Ahuriri by their close family friend and retired Minister Colin English. There was a touching reading by their two nephews but when Colin announced that Dave “may kiss the Bride” I was moving back to the centre aisle and missed the kiss. A quick, quiet word with Colin and he asked them to perform one more task…not that onerous and probably a most happy one…which was to repeat the kiss for my benefit. Got it this time!
Lots of celebrations at a wedding garden party at Dave’s parents’ house in Napier followed. We then nipped over to Napier Sailing Club where Dave spend much of his youth for a bit of time-out and photos. Dave and Asha were then surprised by a posse of blokes on a stag night in the clubhouse who recognised Dave from over a decade ago of racing and came over to congratulate him for reaching this finishing line with Asha.
Here’s a few of my favourite images from their day. So many more are up on their gallery on my Hawkes Bay Wedding Photographer site. Asha and Dave can give you the link.
